GRAND CHESS TOUR ANNOUNCES FIELD FOR 2016 SEASON

Saint Louis, USA - Thursday, 7th April 2016 - The Grand Chess Tour announced today that the world’s top-ten ranked players will compete in the 2016 Tour. Nine of the top-ten will compete in all four tournaments: Rapid and Blitz in Paris and Brussels-Leuven, the Sinquefield Cup and the London Chess Classic. World Champion Magnus Carlsen will compete as a wildcard in both the Paris and Brussels-Leuven stops.

Inaugural Grand Chess Tour Unveiled In Saint Louis

Saint Louis, USA - Friday 24 April, 2015 – There is a new, gold standard for international chess competition, providing more opportunities for the world’s best chess players to compete on a grand stage.

The world’s most prestigious, international chess events are combining efforts to establish a gold standard for the inaugural Grand Chess Tour, an annual competitive circuit for ten of the world’s top grandmasters. The announcement was made today at a press conference held at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis.
