Anish
Anish Giri is a five-time Dutch Champion (2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2023) and is currently the 12th highest-rated player in the world. His victory in the 2023 Tata Steel Chess Tournament was one of his best achievements to date, along with winning the 2019 Shenzhen Masters, the 2017 Reykjavik Open, and Reggio Emilia 2012. Additionally, Giri has represented the Netherlands in seven Olympiads, winning three individual bronze medals (2010, 2014 and 2018) overall. More recently Giri won the 2024 Tata Steel tournament, as well as clear first place in the Sharjah Masters tournament with a score of 7/9 in May of 2025.
In his debut performance in the Tata Steel Chess Rapid & Blitz, Giri defeated Magnus Carlsen in just 22 moves.
