Dommaraju Gukesh is an Indian chess grandmaster and current World No. 2 ranked junior. He recently won the 2024 FIDE Candidates Tournament, becoming the youngest player in history to challenge for the World Championship. Gukesh is also the third youngest player ever to earn the GM title, which he achieved at the age of 12 years and seven months. In addition to several youth titles, Gukesh’s biggest accomplishments include winning the 2023 Chennai Masters, as well as scoring an individual gold medal on Board 1 in the 2022 Chess Olympiad, leading India to earn the team bronze. This will be Gukesh’s first time participating in the GCT.
