Magnus Carlsen is a five-time classical World Champion and current World No. 1. After becoming the youngest ever to reach the #1 FIDE rating spot at the age of 19, Carlsen earned the highest FIDE rating of all-time (2882) and has stayed at No. 1 for over 14 years. Carlsen became World Champion in 2013, after defeating Vishwanathan Anand in a classical 12-game match. He then successfully defended his title against Anand in 2014, before defeating Sergei Karjakin (2016), Fabiano Caruana (2018), and Ian Nepomniachtchi (2021) in subsequent World Championship matches. Magnus is also a two-time Grand Chess Tour winner, five-time World Rapid Champion, and seven-time World Blitz Champion, having most recently won the 2023 World Rapid & Blitz Championships back-to-back.
