The Tour's Turning Point
The 2018 Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz marked the halfway point of the tour, having made its original tournament debut in 2017. This $150,000 event featured all nine of the 2018 Grand Chess Tour players as well as GM Leinier Dominguez as the wildcard pick. The 2017 tournament winner Levon Aronian returned in 2018 to reclaim his first place title again but after five days of exciting rapid and blitz play Hikaru Nakamura emerged victorious for the 2018 Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz tournament.
