The 2018 GCT tour kicked off with Your Next Move tournament that was held at the Leuven City Hall in Belgium. Spectators saw nine of the full tour participants and one wildcard compete against each other in 9 rounds of rapid chess and 18 rounds of blitz chess for a total prize fund of $150,000. New faces in the 2018 tournament included grandmasters Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura, Alexander Grischuk and Shakriyar Mamedyarov - none of whom participated in the 2017 tournament. The 2017 Your Next Move winner, World Champion Magnus Carlsen did not participate in the 2018 event and ultimately, Grandmaster Wesley So emerged victorious with the tournament win.
