Chess Returns To Paris
In 2019, the Paris GCT Rapid & Blitz tournament was once again facilitated by the generous contributions from Vivendi, Canal+ and Colliers International. A regular stop on the Grand Chess Tour since 2015, the third stop neared the halfway point of the 2019 Grand Chess Tour. Fans enjoyed watching seven of the full tour participants and three wildcards compete against each other in 9 rounds of rapid chess and 18 rounds of blitz chess.
World Champion Magnus Carlsen was considered a likely favorite but ultimately France's Maxime Vachier-LaGrave emerged victorious to win the 2019 Paris Rapid & Blitz.
