Bogdan-Daniel Deac is the current Romanian No. 2 player and former prodigy. After earning his IM title at the age of 12 years and seven months, Deac achieved the GM title two years later when he was 14, becoming one of the youngest players in history ever to do so. Deac crossed the 2700 barrier for the first time in September 2022, when he reached his peak FIDE rating of 2710, placing him at World No. 34. Deac is the winner of numerous open events, including the recent 2024 Reykjavik Open.
