Daniil Dubov

GM Daniel Dubov first earned prominence when he achieved his Grandmaster title in 2011 at the age of just 14. In April 2015, he tied for first with Ian Nepomniachtchi in the Aeroflot Open. He then won the bronze medal at the 2016 World Blitz Chess Championship in Doha. In 2017 he won the Russian Higher League and got a bronze medal in the Russian Superfinal.

In December 2018, he achieved a career highlight by winning the World Rapid Chess Championship in Saint Petersburg ahead of a world class field which included world champion Magnus Carlsen and most of the top 10 players in the world. It was revealed that he was part of Carlsen’s team during the 2018 World Championship match against Caruana.
