Alireza Firouzja is an Iranian-French grandmaster and currently the ninth highest-rated player in the world. After earning the GM title at age 14, Firouzja went on to become the youngest ever player to reach 2800, breaking Magnus Carlsen’s record at the age of 18 years and five months. His tournament successes include winning the FIDE Grand Swiss (2021), as well as the Sinquefield Cup (2022) and Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz (2022), which he won on his way to become the 2022 Grand Chess Tour Champion. Recently, Firouzja Qualified for the FIDE Candidates (2022, 2024), and won the Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz (2024) as well as the Sinquefield Cup (2024), becoming the winner of the 2024 Grand Chess Tour.
