Jan-Krzysztof Duda is a former prodigy and the highest rated Polish player of all-time, achieving a peak rating of 2760 in 2021. He won the FIDE World Cup in 2021, defeating Magnus Carlsen in the semifinals to qualify for the 2022 FIDE Candidates. Duda is a previous World Youth Champion (2008 U10) and European Youth Champion (2012 U14) and has represented Poland in multiple Olympiads and other team events, most memorably the 2017 World Team Championship where Poland finished third.
Duda won the Superbet Rapid & Blitz (2022) with a four-point margin ahead of the rest of the field; an historic and unprecedented result and one of the greatest ever seen in a Grand Chess Tour event. During the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships in 2024, he played board three for the winning WR team. Duda was part of Gukesh Dommaraju’s team for the World Chess Championship in 2024.
