Selection Process

The 2015, inaugural Grand Chess Tour was series of three chess tournaments held throughout the year and across the globe. The world’s top-ten ranked players were selected as full 2015 Grand Chess Tour participants. Eight of the top-ten players competed in all three tournaments: Norway Chess Classic, the Sinquefield Cup and the London Chess Classic.

Tournament Regulations

The 2015 Grand Chess Tour is a series of elite tournaments in which the participating players are eligible to earn Grand Chess Tour Points in accordance with their final rank in each event. At the conclusion of the Tour, the top two players based on the final Grand Tour Point standings shall be awarded Tour Prizes. Each of the three 2015 Grand Chess Tour events will award individual prize funds of $300,000, with competitors also tallying points toward a tour prize fund of $150,000; the overall tour champion will receive an additional $75,000. The total prize fund for the circuit is $1,050,000.
